Brad Bird is the Man

Brad Bird is just the man when it comes to Animation. His work with Disney, Pixar and the Simpsons is solid gold. From tear-jerkers like The Fox and The Hound and The Iron Giant, to the glory days of The Simpsons in the nineties, to Pixar masterpieces The Incredibles and Ratatouille, he's been a master of the art and pushed boundaries like few before him. Bonus Points for the hilarious acceptance speech featuring Simon Pegg and Tom Cruise with cameos as Bird's captors.

Grammy Bullshit/Welcome Back

Yeah Beibs and Jaden, that was my reaction pretty much every time they presented an "award."

First off- Hello to Those Followers I had out there. I am back on the scene like Slaughterhouse (http://youtu.be/scqzEgzKLmg). The awards themselves, well I'll just say I disagreed with more than a few selections. Among those nominated, I'd have to say: The Best Rap Album was probably by the Roots. The Best Country Album was probably by Zac Brown Band or Miranda Lambert. The Best Album was by Lady Gaga. The Best Record was by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys... and thats just off the top of my head and with some clear thought.

Now a lighter note-my personal awards on Grammy Night:

Best Wardrobe: Despite stiff competition from normal fashion queens Gaga and Nicki, this easily goes to Mr. Cee-Lo Green, with an outfit inspired by puppets that would make Jim Henson proud. It was like something I'd expect to see Elton John wear on Sesame Street. Needless to say- I want one.

Best Shout Out: (Tie) Cheap that I can just do a tie whenever I don't want to make a decision huh? Well I found

it hard to decide between Lady Gaga telling Whitney Houston that "Born This Way," was written with her in mind- Whitney being a True Superstar that Gaga doesn't believe she is, and Muses' Matt Bellamy giving "Special thanks to my beautiful pregnant girlfriend over there." That's how you earn brownie points my friends.

Best Introduction: Some of you might be expecting me to say Dr. Dre, just because of Eminem's performance building up to it, but I have to go with Miranda Lambert being introduced by her very talented fiancée Blake Shelton, who set the stage with "When I say I love this next performer, what I mean is, I love this next performer. Pretty cute I have to admit-- plus she gets extra points for being screwed out of best Song, Country Song, and Country Album... but I digress.

Best Charisma: I thought this was going to Eminem after he gave it everything he had in "I Need A Doctor," but then Mick Jagger walked out. As Kanye tweeted, "Mick Jagger is crazy fresh!!! #OGSWAG" I'm not completely sure what that means, but I totally agree. He controlled that crowd with ease. He knew what he wanted to do, knew he was doing it during the performance, and once it was done his look said- "Yeah, I still rock harder than all of you half my age." Unreal. Go on with your bad self, Mick Swagger.

Best Artist New To Me: Let me just explain this category real quick. This award is going to the artist I didn't know when the night started, but upon hearing them perform, have been inspired to search out some new tunes for the iPod. Therefore, while Drake is in the "Best New Artist" category, he doesn't fit this one. Its going to Mumford and Sons. They opened for Dylan, and they fucking rocked. I loved them. I've gotten my grubby little mitts

onto their album "Sigh No More," and thus far I'm feeling it big time. Can't wait to play through the whole thing tonight.

Best Performance: My final award is a toughie. My finalists are Mick Jagger, Miranda Lambert, Bobby Bruno & Jannelle, Cee-Lo Green & Gwenyth Paltrow, and the Dylan / Mumford / Avett Bros Jam. Jagger had more energy than everyone. Bobby Ray Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae were the best young talent of the night. Miranda's performance made me wanna tear up. Dylan & Co. proved that no matter what people tell me, folk/jam bands are definitely cool. But it was Cee-Lo and the puppets that had my eyes glued to the screen. I just couldn't look away. And come on, "The Song Otherwise Known As 'Forget You'" is just an awesome title. Everything about the performance was as fun as the song itself-- the costumes, the Muppets, the interplay between Gwenyth Paltrow & that Bird playing the Piano all made for an All-Time Grammy performance that would made Elton John and Kermit the Frog proud.

The Pros and Cons of the Short Man

I will hit my head a thousand times in hopes that I never get barred by the height minimum.

Day & Night

So today I have uploaded the short video I purchased off of iTunes because I couldnt find it in full anywhere online. It's called "Day & Night," and it aired as Pixar's short previous to "Toy Story 3." Pixar kills even with these shorts, as the last two shown before the films (Up and now Toy Story 3) have choked me up nicely.

However, in a side note, the next Pixar feature film will be "Cars 2," a sequel to what is easily my least favorite Pixar film to date. I fear that its Pixar's first attempt at a money-grab, as "Cars" shit sells like wildfire. So I may have to pass for the first time in a long time on a Pixar film in theaters. I will rush to see "Monsters Inc. 2" when it comes out.

Pursuit of Nappyness

I love when making a risky purchase pays off. I was in Newburry Comics a few weeks ago, just browsing (which is dangerous to do there), when I spotted a rap group whose name looked familiar- Nappy Roots.

I searched thru my memory to figure out where I knew this group from. Then it hit me-they were the artists behind my favorite song from Madden 2004, the one where Mike "Dog Fight" Vick was the greatest player of all-time.



I've included the song, 'Roun' The Globe," which I purchased off iTunes back in 2003 when I still did that.

Feeling risky, I decided to buy their new album, "The Pursuit of Nappyness." For $8.00, I figured the potential pay-off was worth it. I must admit, I was very surprised by HOW much this purchase has paid off, as its quickly taken a spot in my car stereo and has not lost a spot to higher-profile releases, including Eminem and Big Boi. I've included the preview to their next video, which happens to be my favorite track on the album.



Just goes to show you that those who take risks are those who reep the rewards.

Seinfeld Hits the Big Screen

Seinfeld's cast is reuniting for two feature length films. The first is a dramatic thriller, perfect for the summer boxoffice. "Serenity Now" will engross you like nothing since "The Clash of the Titans."



The second feature, "George," will bring you to tears. It would make the entire cast of "The Expendables," weep. A film made for that artsy theatre you go to see those indie films that don't hit wide release.

The ESPY's

So the ESPY's are ESPN's award show dedicated to everything sports. This year the show was hosted by Seth Meyers of SNL. Just like the host, some of the features during the show were hilarious.


In a spoof of the horribly egotistic production, "The Decision," Steve Carrell plays the role of Lebron James, with Paul Rudd as the interviewer. For anyone unaware, Lebron revealed the team he would sign with during his own Primetime Special. (Yes, he thinks much to highly of himself).



This movie trailer paints Sandra Bullock in a darker light than her Academy Award winning-performance in "The Blind Side." Watch as an inspirational story becomes one QB's nightmare. And I do agree with Coach Belichick; this looks hilarious.

Paging Dr. Faggot

For those of you who agree with me that last year's best comedy was "The Hangover," than be excited for this.



"Due Date" stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis, and is directed by the same guy who did "The Hangover." The comedic style looks very similar and I have high hopes.

Can't See Past My Shades!

This might be my favorite song from Bobby Ray's (B.o.B) debut album. Lyrically amazing and Lupe kills it. Listen for the references to Aerosmith/Run-DMC and X-Men.
